Ukraine Sunflower

When my fellow artistes from the Alcohol Ink Art Community said they were doing a paint along of Alcohol Ink Sunflowers for Ukraine, I jumped on board to join them.

This piece of original alcohol ink artwork was one of the results and I call it Ukraine Sunflower. I painted two pieces during the session, the other alcohol ink painting, called Fire Sunflower is also available in my shop.

I love this quote about sunflowers from Helen Mirren: “I don’t think there’s anything on this planet that more trumpets life than the sunflower. . . Wherever light is, no matter how weak, these flowers will find it. And that’s such an admirable thing. And such a lesson in life.”

This alcohol ink painting is protected with several coats of Kamar varnish and an archival UV protectant to seal and prevent fading. Still, displaying alcohol inks in direct sunlight is not recommended.
